My target 100 kms

I’m taking part in Walk for Epilepsy around Australia because...

Each year The Epilepsy Foundation runs their annual fundraiser "Walk for Epilepsy" each year as a foolish man heading out if his 40's I endeavour to ROW for Epilepsy This year my target is to Row 100km in 25 days to raise money for Epilepsy.

Epilepsy  is a cause close to our hearts. In November of 2020 with an 18month old, a 3year old and three pre teens, Carina was diagnosed with Epilepsy after a series of episodes we just couldn't quite put our finger on.

Many have their own story about Epilepsy. Ours has been one of trial and error with neurologists and medications and coming to terms with having a single driver in the house. Whilst a challenge for me personally, Carina's struggle with a lack of independence together with a disease which sometimes seems to have a mind of its own has been a far higher hill to climb.

I have often worked by the adage of a problem shared is a problem halved and the more I ask the people around me the more I realise just how many people have had to endure and live with Epilepsy. I am sure our story is one of the easier ones.

This October is Walk for Epilepsy Month, now I'm not much of a walker and always one to make the most of the confines of my own backyard so I am going to Row for Epilepsy. Since I hung it up last year my rowing machine has been gathering dust but I have given it a spring clean and wheeled it onto the balcony.

My goal this year is to row 100km over 25 days. If I get the inspiration and avoid the soft tissue injuries of a man in his late late 40's I might even push it a bit further.
