I’m taking part in Walk for Epilepsy because...
I’m taking part in Walk for Epilepsy this year to raise money and awareness for something that has been a big part of my life for a long time.
I’d been experiencing what turned out to be focal seizures since I was at least 11, but it took years to finally be diagnosed with epilepsy. For a long time, I was told by countless doctors that these focal seizures were anxiety attacks, and it had a pretty big impact on my schooling and everyday life. The only reason it was eventually picked up that it was epilepsy was because of a tonic clinic seizure that left me unresponsive on the couch, leaving my little brother to call 000. These donations can go a long way to help spot these issues before they get to that extent.
Even things that might seem so small, like getting my Learners and eventually my P’s, became such a difficult process for me. Things that most people don’t think twice about could feel like such a huge achievement, and it really made me realise how much epilepsy had affected my life.
Thankfully, I’ve now found a solution that works for me, and I know there are so many people living with epilepsy who are doing it a lot tougher than I ever was. I’d love to be able to help give those people the support and resources they need.
If you’re able to donate, even the smallest amount can go a long way. Something that might seem like a tiny contribution can make such a big difference to someone else. And if you can’t donate, sharing this page with your friends or family is just as appreciated.
Thank you so much for supporting me and helping me make a difference! 💜
