I’m taking part in Walk for Epilepsy around Australia because...

My beautiful niece Stella Rae has a rare Genetic Mutation that presents with severe epilepsy. In the words of my incredible brother and Stella’s dad: Our girl is bright, wild and a lot of fun, but despite 6 anti epileptic medications and a specialised diet she still has countless seizures every day. We have been on our journey for seizure control for a little over 12 months now with ups and downs all along the way. One of the biggest downs though is that our daughter is still not walking at 2 years of age because of her seizure activity holding her back from exploring the world the way she desperately wants to. Because my daughter can’t walk I want to walk 100km for the Walk for Epilepsy and raise money and awareness for this horrible disease.

My brother and his amazing wife have spent the last 12 months at countless medical appointments, hospital visits and therapy sessions to support Stella and improve her quality of life. In solidarity with the hurdles they’ve faced I’d like to walk 100km in October to raise money and awareness for Epilepsy 💜
