I’m taking part in Walk for Epilepsy because...

The purpose for this years walk is different for me this year.My son Angus got diagnosed with Epilepsy in  July 2023, his first seizure was in the car going to our nephews funeral. There was a minute or so where we thought he died going to our nephews funeral.the feelings and emotions remain real and raw to this day. We had multiple seizures hospital stays appointments that everyone here knows too well. Fast forward we are on track to be seizure free by November which means my 16 year old should be able to get his Ls something we have been working on. This years walk is about gratitude. Gratitude for the progress we have made, gratitude for all the research into medication, treatment options that has allowed to heal. This is also my chance to stand in solidarity with those who are in the trenches battling the epilepsy beast. We are all warriors who have walked this path who continue to walk this path and I hope by raising some money it will go towards raising funds and awareness for those who walk this path in hope that a cure and better treatment plans are possible.

If you can donate please do, it’s such a worthwhile cause. You never know who is battling epilepsy and more importantly you never know when this beast will strike.

My Updates

My journey so far

Sunday 17th Aug
I’ve decided to walk again this year, I walked in 2023 to help me deal with the grief of the epilepsy diagnosis. It turned our lives upside down and there was no warning the epilepsy beast would strike.  We have been incredibly lucky that the medication has worked. We remain incredibly grateful for the doctors who have helped us and the support of family and friends who have supported us through this journey. 2023 was a rough year. 2 years on we are getting closer to 2 years seizure free something we didn’t think was possible at the time.  This years walk is part celebration for how far we have come and opportunity to continue to support those who remain in the trenches fighting this beast. I hope I can do my part to raise money and awareness so one day epilepsy is in the history books. For those who are still fighting I will walk in solidarity with you. I know the mental toll epilepsy takes. To all the Epilepsy warriors let’s walk and raise money and awareness to crush this beast😀
