Why I'm doing this challenge ...

This October, I’m taking part in Walk for Epilepsy 💜

I’ll be walking or cycling 250km over 25 days to raise funds for the 1 in 25 people living with epilepsy.

One year ago, James experienced a prolonged seizure at School and was diagnosed with epilepsy following a hospital admission. Shortly after this we contacted the Epilepsy Foundation for advice and direction. They provided over the phone support and education and organised free seizure management and emergency medication administration training for all of our family members and people that care for James. Two months later when James had another prolonged seizure in our living room that training was put into practice. James isn't out of the woods yet and continues to present with seizure activity despite multiple adjustments made to medications and dosages. We know there are many people in  similar positions working hard to get seizures under control and keep themselves or their loved ones safe.

The Epilepsy Foundation provides education and support to individuals living with epilepsy and their families and funds vital research, clinical trials and treatments for epilepsy. 

I’m hoping that, above all, fundraising for this cause will make a small but meaningful contribution towards helping to keep people living with epilepsy safe.
