My target 200 kms

I’m taking part in Walk for Epilepsy around Australia because...

This year I’ve raised the bar!! Raising money for this awesome cause always means so much to me … but this year I’m reaching out to you like never before; as you will see by some of my story ; it’s been quite a difficult few months for myself and my family… . I need as many of you to help me reach my goal as possible; 200 km in 25 days!

I will post my Journey alongside some pictures of why research into this disorder is so important!!

I went 19 years with no active seizures… (still on meds) but suddenly they became very much active again and they weren’t working… and it threw my life into chaos… as much as I’ve tried to remain normal, my body hasn’t allowed that.

So follow me as I walk alongside many others for an amazing cause!! And help me and my family and others to live well and be given every opportunity to put Epilepsy into the shadows 💪🏽

Thank you ❤️

My Updates

Goal reached !!

Thursday 24th Oct
Yesterday I reached my goal !! 200 km in 23 days ! This was very exciting and hoping to see a few more km on the board yet ! Also hoping to catch a few more donations but overall this has been such a great journey for me . And I’m greatful for all that have been involved and those who have supported me even on the tough days ❤️

It BEGINS!!!

Tuesday 1st Oct
Today I felt good!! Even though I generally struggle in the morning these days , with weird legs that don’t function due to medication side effects I pushed those little legs and made it through to 9km and overcame some pain barriers along the way .

I thought about all the helpful people that have gotten to me here today ❤️

And listened to some funny podcasts, so if you see me walking along laughing I’m not going mad ; it’s genuinely very funny 🤣

Bring on tomorrow 💪🏽💜

Action on the ground

Saturday 28th Sep
The last few weeks have been busy on the training ground. As well as the inclement weather conditions here… I’ve been really enjoying getting back to feeling a little like my old self in some form, by moving my body how it’s used to moving. As well as this I’ve had a lot to be thankful about. my story made the Epilepsy Foundation Australia page ❤️ and I want to thank them again for all the support they have shown me now and in all the years when I have needed them. Even in the past when I worked with them as a volunteer, I absolutely loved it !
Please never hesitate to reach out .

I also want to take this opportunity to thank some very special and generous people that without I’d have never reached these goals. Thank you for your donations and encouragement.

Your support is greatly appreciated and I think you all know how I feel about you all but it’s always nice to be thanked

I’m really looking forward to the weeks ahead !!’ Hope you will all get busy walking with me !! 🙌🏽🙌🏽❤️

Monitoring begins

Tuesday 20th Aug
So last week was a little different for me and quite outside my usual routine, as I had ECG/eeg and camera monitoring which required me to stay indoors and be watched the whole day for the whole week.  I’m hopeful that this research will uncover a few things for me . It certainly was hard for me to stay as still as I was LOL so today I’ll be out for a short walk only then dance class… and will be continuing will my usual activities throughout the week and next week step up the km if I can . But we will see how the body feels !! I’m excited to be back out and my T-shirt will get here today I think !

Slow but steady

Friday 9th Aug
Today like every other day is slow , and I tend to watch others walk past me racing like they have a herd of elephants chasing them 🤣 but no, not me …. I know I have injuries and pain , and I have to be patient and keep my mental game up . Today felt good ! I listened to a “time to walk” podcast linked with my Apple Watch with Jamie Lee Curtis . These have been so helpful in motivating me to get through the hard moments .

My body has the ability to walk huge distances. It’s as much mind over matter in some cases . But I’m aware ; it’s battling with huge emotions and side effects and changes right now . So mentally, positive energy and strength by going slowly is important .

Through people’s support this has a flow on effect too . It’s so lovely to see and hear kindness and kind words. It means a lot .
Thank you ❤️

One goal at a time 🙏

Wednesday 7th Aug
Absolutely stoked and overwhelmed, and so grateful to see the support today when I came on and saw the donations and lovely words!! The power of support is an amazing motivation for me ! Thank you all so much I will get around to thanking you all individually 🫶🏽

Atm I’m only keeping track of my walks I do aside from my everyday routine. As you know I don’t and can’t drive atm … so for someone like me ; walking is life haha so to do a few km in the day is just essential living . I would like to not factor these in if I can help it so building up to an 8 to 10 km walk is a process . I was once a person who could do that quite easily 🤣 but with everything that is going on in this brain right now , that is quite a big deal. So I’ll just go with the flow and I know today it felt really good .

I listened to some awesome inspiring athletes on fitness podcasts I highly recommend listening to them especially if you struggle with pain barriers or need something to occupy your mind .

Thank you all again ❤️💪🏽

The training begins!

Sunday 4th Aug
Today I began some light training, and it was a beautiful day for a walk , so I did a 3.5 km walk and finished with some stretches and meditation.

It’s all about slow and steady, having fun , rebuilding and getting the message out!
I have a few t-shirts in the cupboard I’m hoping to get the kids out walking with me on the weekends! But I’m not so worried about distance atm .

Strength, positivity and moving is the name of the game at the moment! 🤩
