Team Doose
Eva’s journey with Doose syndrome, also known as Myoclonic-Astatic Epilepsy (MAE), has been a challenging one. Over the last 2 years she has had just over 1,600 seizures to date.
This rare form of epilepsy typically begins in early childhood and is characterized by frequent seizures that are usually medication resistant.
Unfortunately For Eva, this has meant numerous hospital visits, trying various medications, and enduring the uncertainty that comes with each day.
The unpredictability of seizures can be particularly hard, not just for Eva, but for the entire family. It affects her ability to participate in everyday activities, attend school regularly, and enjoy the simple pleasures of childhood.
Despite these challenges, Eva has shown remarkable strength and resilience. Her courage in facing each day, even when it is filled with obstacles, is truly inspiring. She has learned to adapt to her condition with a grace that belies her young age. Whether it’s through her determination to keep up with her schoolwork or her unwavering spirit during medical treatments, Eva’s strength shines through. Her ability to find joy and laughter, even on the toughest days, is a testament to her incredible spirit.
Eva’s journey has also highlighted the importance of a supportive community. Family, friends, and healthcare professionals have all played crucial roles in providing the care and encouragement she needs. This network of support has helped Eva navigate the complexities of Doose syndrome, ensuring she never feels alone in her fight. Her story is a powerful reminder of the strength that can be found in unity and the incredible resilience of the human spirit.
