Sammy has been living with epilepsy since he was just 6 months old and it has turned our lives upside down and impacts everything we do, every day. Just in getting ready for this morning's walk, I had to make sure his rescue meds were packed in case he ended up having a big seizure, which can happen at any time, without any warning. The bigger tonic seizures Sammy suffers from often include him not breathing and turning blue. It is truly terrifying. Watching your loved one seize for a minute feels like an eternity. Will he start breathing again? How long will this seizure last? Will I need to call an ambulance? We have tried countless medications, and currently Sam is on 3 anti-seizure meds, twice a day, every day. The medications themselves have horrible side effects and sometimes it's a choice between sedating your child or watching them have more frequent seizures. Despite all of this, Sam is one of the happiest, sweetest and most brave kids you will ever have the pleasure of meeting 🥰 As Sam's mum, I often feel helpless. This fundraiser is a way to take action against epilepsy, and feel a little bit of hope that maybe, one day we will find the answer to ending the seizures, and live life free from epilepsy.
