I’m taking part in Walk for Epilepsy because...
💜 This October I’m attempting to walk/ run/ shuffle 250km in 25 days to raise funds for the Epilepsy foundation.
💜 1 in 25 Australians (3-4 percent of the population) will develop epilepsy at some stage in their lives. And is the second most common neurological condition after dementia, making it more common than Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease and cerebral palsy.
💜 Epilepsy turned our family’s life upside down when Luce had multiple seizures nearly three years ago. And after a couple of seizures in January and March this year it reminded us that it was still there lurking in the background.
💜The worst bit is after each seizure all sorts of plans get pushed back. Which is really crap. Medication has everything under control for now, but the clock starts again. Every teenager turning 16 wants to be able to start learning how to drive, it’s a rite of passage. In our house we have been told February 2025 is the date that Luce can go for the elusive EEG providing everything is going well, this will then tell us whether it’s at all possible to get her Ls. 🤞
💜 We are incredibly lucky to have had support from our Neurologist at the RCH and a diagnosis from the beginning. Others are not so lucky.
💜 I want to raise money and make a difference for people living with epilepsy. Please help me by giving whatever you can using the 'Donate' button. The more people that know about the walk, the greater the impact, so please also spread the word by sharing our page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot! 💜💜💜
