Walk for Lewie

Tomorrow, 1st October, we begin moving for the moments that matter.

Tomorrow, thousands of Australians will lace up, step out, ride, walk and run as Walk for Epilepsy 2026 gets underway - and we're so pleased to be a part of this.

For the next 25 days, we'll move together as one epilepsy community, raising awareness, building understanding and helping create a future where people with epilepsy can lead their best lives.

Behind every kilometre is a person, a child getting ready for their first day of school, a parent wanting their family to feel safe and supported, someone with epilepsy chasing a goal, trying something new, or simply getting on with everyday life.

Andrew and I are taking part as this cause as it is dear to our heart as our grandson Lewie, who is now 5, was diagnosed with epilepsy and has been battling with seizures his whole life. He began with small absent type seizures but as he grew older his seizures became longer. He has had several trips to the hospital and many tests and is now managed with medication, although still not seizure free. 

Throughout that time his parents, Alitta and David,  and brother Eddie, have had to deal with discrimination from child care, give up work and try to manage the emotional health and well being and the toll this has taken on their family and still does today. As Lewie started school this year Eddie, aged 7,  has stepped up, looking out for Lewie and helping support school staff when Lewie requires help. 

They are remarkable people and Lewie is a very lucky little boy to have such wonderful parents and brother.  

Like Lewie many families who have someone they love with epilepsy require ongoing support, education and medical procedures and continue to look for the newest medical research. By donating to this great cause you help families to get that support.
