I’m taking part in Walk for Epilepsy because...
I was diagnosed with epilepsy when I was 13 years old. I’m now 30, and over the years I’ve experienced multiple seizures and the uncertainty that can come with living with epilepsy.
After seven years seizure free and stable on medication, I recently experienced my longest seizure. It was a confronting reminder that epilepsy can be unpredictable, even after years of stability and independence.
Over the years, I’ve also had the opportunity to contribute to epilepsy research by participating in a study, which makes supporting greater awareness and understanding of epilepsy particularly meaningful to me.
One thing I hope to help raise awareness of is that epilepsy is a neurological condition, and having epilepsy does not mean you cannot live a full, active and independent life. For many people, epilepsy is something we manage while getting on with all the normal parts of life. 💜
This October, I’m taking part in the Walk for Epilepsy to turn a difficult moment into something positive, raise awareness and help make a difference for people living with epilepsy.
I’d love your support. If you’re able to donate, any contribution, big or small, would mean so much to me and will help support people living with epilepsy and their families.
And if you can’t donate, simply sharing my page and helping spread the word is just as appreciated.
Every kilometre is for people living with epilepsy, their families and everyone who supports them along the way.
Thank you for supporting me. 💜
