Why We're Walking for Epilepsy

Costello Group is supporting Epilepsy Queensland through the Walk for Epilepsy. For us, it’s personal.  

As some of you know, our nephew Harrison is six and lives with epilepsy. He was just two when he had his first seizure, 45 terrifying minutes that left him unconscious and in hospital. 

Since then, he’s had more than 1500 seizures. They can strike anytime, in his sleep, at the pool, or on the footy field. Ambulances, hospital stays and rescue medicine have become part of his life.  

But epilepsy isn’t just seizures. It’s the fear, developmental challenges, side effects of endless medications, isolation, mental health impacts, and the toll it takes on families.  

And yet Harrison is extraordinary. After days that leave him frail, he somehow finds the strength to bounce back, with a cheeky smile, clapping his hands, and asking: “What are we doing today?” He teaches us daily about resilience, courage, and strength.  

We're walking for Harrison and for the 1 in 25 Australians living with epilepsy. 

Funds raised will support vital services, education, and research to help families like ours.
