I’m taking part in Walk for Epilepsy because...
After 4 years of unexplained episodes, I was diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy in September 2024. Since then, I have had to change my life around to accommodate my condition and manage my triggers. This walk is more of a challenge for me, with the added benefit of raising money for others living with epilepsy and supporting research that could improve lives.
Exercise, especially cardio, is one of my triggers for seizures. Since my diagnosis, I’ve avoided it, sticking to gentler toning exercises. Even now, nine months seizure-free, there’s always the reminder that a seizure could come at any moment. That uncertainty is something so many people with epilepsy face every day, and it’s why raising awareness and support matters so much- especially for those who struggle more and live with seizures far more often than I do.
Walking in Walk for Epilepsy is my way of facing this challenge, pushing my limits safely, and standing in solidarity with everyone living with epilepsy.
