I’m taking part in Walk for Epilepsy because...

I am doing this for our little girl and everyone else who spends their lives not knowing when the next seizure is going to come.  Lucky for us, at the moment, Issy's seizures are settled with the occasional absent seizure.  However, for a lot of people dealing with epilepsy, that is not the case.  So please, even if it's just a gold coin donation, donate as I set out on the adventure of walking 100 km over 25 days.  It is the least I can do to support our brave little girl and others like her who deal every day.

Issy's Journey

Tuesday 30th Sep
Hi Everyone,
Isabella's Journey with Epilepsy started when she was 3.5 years old.
She went to bed as per usual on a Tuesday night and woke up on the Wednesday not feeling well, complaining of a headache and stomach, and asked if she could go to the toilet. What happened in the next 36 hours was unbelievably scary for all of us, especially considering we were in the midst of COVID19 and Dan the Man's lockdowns.  Isabella endured an epileptic seizure which start to finish lasted 8 hours. Isabella went from being an active 3.5 year old to going blind, not being able to speak or walk and ending with a Chornic Tonic seizure.  Conversation were going around in Monash medical hospital of putting her into an induced coma to allow her brain to stop and begin the healing process.  She had MRI s, CAT scans, lumber punctures.  And I was asked if I had left medication around that she could have taken.  Isabella wa put into the Children's ICU ward at Monash we se spent the next day and a half of which Issy slept 70% of.  When finally a peds nureo looked at the other doctors and said she's has an epileptic siezure do your tests but this little girl is epileptic.  Issy has since had countless absence seizures and two more chronic Tonic seizures.  We as a family are grateful that Issy epilepsy although nasty is not worse and feel for the familys and children/adults that deal with seizures on a more regular basis.  hence the fact I am doing this walk, we understand our journey has been hard but there are families and people out there doing it much harder and need these funds inorder to help in the porcess of finding ways to eliminate this condition and allow everyone to live life to the full.
Just to finish Issy is hanging in there, she still has the migraines and headaches, she on meds to stop the seizures and the headaches but Issy most dangerous part of the year is only just starting again please if you can help in anyway not just Issy but everyone suffering with epilepsy please donate every little bit helps.
