I’m taking part in Walk for Epilepsy because...
A lot of you won’t know, but our little Lola girl was diagnosed with epilepsy in July, after suffering a cluster of 8 seizures early one morning in May. She was taken by ambulance to hospital, and was discharged a couple of days later with lots of testing scheduled. During the 2 months we were testing and waiting for a diagnoses, she suffered multiple seizures each week - including one at school, and another that saw her end up back in hospital.
We’re lucky, it is a benign form of epilepsy, and is now controlled with medication.
It’s been scary and traumatising for us to witness, and that diagnosis will follow her everywhere until she (hopefully) grows out of it.
The help we got with constructing seizure management plans for her, and all the information we were given was so helpful, and I’d like to use as a way to give back.
