My Activity Tracking

My target 500 kms

We are taking part in Walk for Epilepsy around Australia because...

We want to raise money and make a difference for people living with epilepsy.

Our goals are to;

×          Increase awareness, understanding and acceptance of epilepsy.

×          Be a proactive voice for epilepsy.

×          Walk for epilepsy and raise $1000 to this worthy cause.

Our teams efforts can help advocate for funding for epilepsy programs, research, and a cure in the future! Please help us by giving whatever you can using the 'Give Now' button. The more people that know about the walk, the greater the impact, so please also spread the word by sharing our page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!

Dan's Story

Monday 12th Sep
In March this year my life as I knew it changed. I was driving back to Launceston from Hobart when unexpectedly out of the blue, I had a seizure whilst at the wheel of a car causing me to crash the vehicle. Luckily I survived and walked away with some severe bruising but still was still alive. I was so incredibly lucky the road I was travelling on was recently being done for roadworks and was at 60 km/hr instead of 110 km/hr.

I went to hospital in Hobart and was discharged a few days later after some tests, saying that they thought it would be unlikely to happen again. A week later I was at home and suffered another seizure, my wife came home and found me disorientated and confused and took me to the hospital in Launceston. On the way to hospital I suffered another seizure in the car,  the next thing I remember I was in the emergency department waking up.

I am now thankfully on medication which is working, but I am now on restrictions for 12 months such as not being able to drive, or having to work with others all the time and not being by myself.

My goal is to raise awareness for epilepsy and how it can affect peoples lives. Not just physically or emotionally but for others around that person as well such as family, friends, co-workers etc. who can also be greatly impacted by it. I want to raise awareness for the many different types of epilepsy that people suffer from everyday and show the broader community that even though a person may have epilepsy they can still have a great life and not let it define them or stop them from doing amazing things in life.

Please help donate to a great cause and help my work colleges and I to raise some money for this foundation. All money raised from our team will go directly to Epilepsy Tasmania and will be donated directly into the community.
