I’m taking part in Walk for Epilepsy because...

This October, I’m taking part in the Walk for Epilepsy for my beautiful daughter, Sierra.

Sierra is 8 years old. She had her first seizure when she was just two, and at four years old she was diagnosed with early-onset childhood epilepsy. At her worst, she was having up to 100 absence seizures a day.

Over the past four years, we’ve tried countless medications without success. Each day, she faces the challenges of living with uncontrolled epilepsy—and the added difficulty that epilepsy isn’t covered under the NDIS, meaning extra support at school is hard to access.

We’re walking to raise awareness and much-needed funds for the Epilepsy Foundation, who work tirelessly to:

  • Provide personalised epilepsy management and emergency care plans for children like Sierra

  • Deliver training to schools and workplaces so kids with epilepsy can learn and thrive safely

  • Fund cutting-edge research into better treatments, prevention, and ultimately, a cure

  • Reduce the stigma and isolation faced by people living with epilepsy

Every step we take is for Sierra, and for the 1 in 25 Australians who will be diagnosed with epilepsy in their lifetime. Your support will make a real difference—helping families access the resources, knowledge, and hope they need.

If you can, please donate. Every dollar takes us closer to a world where epilepsy doesn’t hold anyone back.

đź’ś Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

My son also started suffering seizures when he was 5 - but he is very lucky and after lots of trial and error was able to find a drug that works.
