Goose turns 18 and 4 years living with Epilepsy 💜💜💜

Last week we celebrated Lucy’s 18th Birthday which was a bit of a milestone as it was also 4 years since Luce had her first seizures and was diagnosed with epilepsy at the RCH. 
💜💜💜💜

Luce had consecutive seizures on her 14th birthday. Luce ended up at the Royal Children's Hospital and was incredibly lucky to leave with a diagnosis and medication. (A lot of people aren't so fortunate.) We also met our amazing Neurologist Eunice, who didn't sugarcoat things, which was pretty confronting.

The following day, arriving back home, Luce didn't remember her 14th birthday or the presents she received. Her birthday cake was untouched. It was a very surreal experience.

The feeling of not knowing if there would be more seizures was incredibly scary as a parent. I think I watched her like a hawk and didn't get much sleep. It is a day we are never going to forget.

Four years later, Luce has become incredibly resilient - I'm so proud of her. It hasn't always been an easy ride.  

And thankfully this was a birthday she remembers!
