Why do I walk for Epilepsy?
I walk for epilepsy because this cause is deeply personal — I was diagnosed with epilepsy, and since then I’ve taken part in the Walk for Epilepsy every year. It’s a way for me to raise awareness, push back against stigma, and give back to a community that supported me when I needed it most.
The Epilepsy Foundation helped me understand my condition when everything felt overwhelming — from breaking down medical jargon to creating management plans and helping educate my family, friends, and workplace. Their support was a lifeline, and now I walk to help ensure others get that same level of care and understanding.
1 in 25 Australians will be diagnosed with epilepsy, yet it’s still one of the most misunderstood neurological conditions. Many of us live with medication-resistant epilepsy and ongoing challenges, and there’s still no cure.
I walk not just for myself, but for every person navigating epilepsy in silence or confusion — to raise funds, create change, and show we’re not alone.
