My Updates

Our epilepsy journey

Friday 12th Sep

In may this year I was diagnosed with Epilepsy. This diagnosis changed life for not only myself but also my family. There have been many changes we have experienced, one of the main ones was loosing my ability to drive. This has put an enormous strain on my wife Nicole, who now has to ferry not only our young daughter Phoebe around but also me.

One massive plus that epilepsy has given me is my beautiful friend Emily. Not only does she have epilepsy, but her 8 year old son Hunter does as well. Finding out you have epilepsy as an adult is hard enough, but being diagnosed as a young child is rough. It will be a life long battle for poor Hunter man. Although he is taking a lot of it in his stride, the battle find the right medication whilst dealing with absent seizures and the fatigue, mood swings and other symptoms of this as a kid is so hard for someone so young. He is lucky that he has such a supportive, and adaptive family around him to help him along his journey!

Epilepsy is not just about seizures. It’s about isolation, memory loss, fatigue, mood swing, loss of appetite and many many other difficult situations that come along with it.

Thanks you all for your support. It means so much not only to us, but to our family and friends that are also on this journey with us xx
