We've created this team because..
At age 8 our daughter Ava was diagnosed with Epilepsy. She is just about to have her 12th birthday and still we have no control over her seizures or side effects from medications. Ava’s daily life is affected by the constant cocktail of medications, decrease in learning and cognitive abilities, mental health, loss of movement in her legs and arms for days at a time and more. No child should have to go through this and no parent should have to kiss their child to sleep every night and pray that she wakes up every day. The constant sleepless nights, feeling guilty and helpless that you don’t have the power to ‘fix’ your child. The revolving hospital door where the doctors in emergency know your name. This shouldn’t be a 12 year olds life, but it is. We want to raise funds for medical trials and research into medications for people who have refractory epilepsy like Ava. We want to raise awareness around this condition and improve the stigma that surrounds epilepsy. But most of all we want to stand with our girl and show her that she has an army behind her, fighting this fight with her and showing her she can do anything she sets her mind on 💜🧡 Join Ava’s Army….
