I’m taking part in Walk for Epilepsy around Australia because...

I want to raise money and make a difference for people living with epilepsy. I am walking to contribute to research that could help uncover the causes, discover new treatments, and even perhaps prevent the onset of epilepsy.

I also want to bring awareness and address any stigma attached to living with epilepsy. It is a condition that leaves you quite vulnerable and is not always easy to share about with others.

Please help me by giving whatever you can using the 'Donate' button. The more people that know about the walk, the greater the impact, so please also spread the word by sharing our page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!

My Updates

Double Donation Day!

Thursday 19th Oct
This is tricky to share but important. I am one of the 1 in 25 Australians living with Epilepsy. At the age of 19, I started having absence or complex partial seizures. Doctors were able to quite quickly control these through medication. I even managed to wean off medication and live seizure-free for many years. After having my second baby, the seizures returned more severely.

Despite a multitude of tests, the cause for my late onset epilepsy has never been clear. It did heavily impact my life for many years. I was unable to drive and struggled to find a medication that controlled the seizures. I had to rely on help from others often (which is not always easy to ask for and accept!).

I am grateful now to have found a medication that allows to me to live seizure-free. But I know that many, many people struggle every day with seizures. I am sharing this as, for the month of October, I will be walking 120kms in October to help to improve the lives of people living with epilepsy.

Donations are being matched today - doubling your gift. If it is within your means, I’d appreciate your support. Thank you ❤️

Well done you. It’s amazing what some people deal with. I never knew you had epilepsy. I have ulcerative colitis. A different disease that can be debilitating. Well done us for living our best lives despite what life unexpectedly throws at us. Happy walking!
